Request Hon'ble Modi and Government for judiciary infrastructure
The Issue
In my regular visits to District and Trial courts, I have observed a disheartening reality. Our judges, who are entrusted with upholding justice and ensuring that the rule of law prevails, are often working in less than ideal conditions, particularly when it comes to infrastructure. These dedicated individuals operate in cramped spaces with very limited access to fresh air. The lack of air conditioning and inadequate furniture contribute to an environment that does not facilitate their ability to perform at their best. Unlike other pillars of our democracy, such as the parliament and media houses that boast modern amenities and infrastructure, the judiciary seems to lag far behind.
Judges cannot voice their need for better facilities due to the nature of their roles. This silence means that unless we act, their needs might continue to go unmet. It is crucial that they are provided with the necessary infrastructure to enhance their working conditions. Modernizing the infrastructure for the judiciary should not be seen as a luxury, but a necessary step in strengthening our democracy.
Statistics indicate that the judiciary is struggling with a massive backlog of cases across various levels. According to recent reports, there are over three crore pending cases in Indian courts. Providing better infrastructure can positively impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the judiciary system, allowing judges to handle cases more swiftly and with better focus.
The government has shown its commitment to modernizing other sectors, and similar attention should be extended to our courts. We urge the Hon'ble Narendra Modi and the Government of India to allocate funds and resources towards building modern infrastructure for the judiciary. This involves upgrading courtrooms with better facilities, ensuring adequate space and ventilation, and providing the necessary technological support, such as digital screens for virtual hearings and modern communication systems.
To bring justice to everyone, it’s imperative that those who administer justice work in an environment that promotes efficiency, precision, and well-being. By signing this petition, you will be supporting the movement towards giving our judiciary the respect and infrastructure it deserves. Let’s raise our voices for those who deliver justice and ensure they have the best resources at their disposal.
We also understand that government might be doing its best to provide proper infrastructure for judiciary. Not enough. Not on and in time. Same saying applied here that "delayed in infra is denied the infra"
What is more important is doing it on war footing. Government must create a separate autonomous body and giving it required funds and strict timeline with appropriate powers of course.
Otherwise it will be same as a case filed by grandfather and son of grandson still struggling to get the justice.
The early the better, the best will be judiciary.
