Request for Reconsideration of Partial U.S. Ban on Turkmen Citizens

The Issue

Thousands of Turkmen citizens—including students, legal residents, professionals, and families—are being impacted by a sudden and unclear U.S. policy restricting entry to individuals from Turkmenistan. Students cannot return home to visit their aging parents for fear of being barred from reentry. Parents are unable to attend their children’s graduations. Entire families are separated with no clear timeline. The emotional and psychological toll of this restriction is immense and growing by the day.

If this policy continues unchecked, it will isolate law-abiding individuals who have studied, worked, and lived in the U.S. legally for years. Families will remain divided. Medical emergencies and humanitarian needs will go unmet. This ban threatens the integrity of long-standing educational, cultural, and diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Turkmenistan.

We urge the U.S. government to act now. The lack of transparency, fairness, and accessible recourse for affected individuals makes this an urgent humanitarian and diplomatic concern. We call for the government to reconsider or revise the ban with compassion and accountability. The lives and futures of many depend on it.
