Request for Measures to Mitigate Traffic Congestion Caused by Tourism
The Issue
To the Local Government Unit, Department of Transportation, and Department of Tourism,
We the residents here in Baguio are writing to express our concerns regarding the significant traffic congestion in our area due to the high number of tourists visiting our community . While we recognize and appreciate the economic benefits that tourism brings, the current volume of visitors has created severe traffic issues that negatively impact the daily lives of residents
Main roads and highways are frequently congested, causing long delays and inconvenience for residents commuting to work, school, and other essential activities. The influx of tourist has also led to a scarcity of parking space, forcing residents to park far from their homes and businesses. This increased traffic has resulted in higher level of air pollution and noise, affecting the health and well-being of our community. Additionally, the crowded roads have increased the risk of traffic accidents, putting both residents and tourist at risk
Here are some of our suggestions in addresssing this issue:
•Improved Public Transportation
-We urge the local government to enhance public transportation options to reduce the reliance on public vehicles.
•Traffic Management Plan
-We request the implementation of effective traffic management plans during peak tourist seasons to ensure smoother traffic flow.
•Designated Parking Areas
-We propose the creation of designated parking areas for tourists, freeing up residential parking spaces.
•Sustainable Tourism Practices
-We advocate for promoting sustainable tourism practices that balance need of the community with the benefits of tourism.
By addressing these concerns we believe that, we can improve the quality of life for residents while continuing to welcome tourists to our community. We kindly request your prompt attention to these matters and look forward to your positive response.
Thank you for time and consideration Sincerely,
