We request the Government of India to extend paid maternity leave from 26 weeks to 1 year for working women. The first year after childbirth is crucial for both mother and baby health. Mothers require recovery time and babies need continuous breastfeeding and care. Many women face difficulty returning to work early, which affects their physical and mental health.
Extending maternity leave will improve child development, maternal well-being, and support women’s career continuity. We request this policy change for the welfare of working mothers in India
