This unexpected change has swapped Armo with Eyl District and seems to lack transparency in its justification and process.
Originally, our district was included in a recommendation letter penned by the former Puntland Minister of Interior, Hon. Abdi Farah Juha. The letter highlighted the urgent needs and potential benefits of including Armo District in the Bulsho Project. However, following the appointment of a new Minister, the decision was reportedly reversed, and Armo was replaced with Eyl without clear reasoning or communication.
The Bulsho Project is a vital initiative aimed at enhancing living conditions and supporting community development in Puntland. Armo District, a region grappling with poverty and underdevelopment, was optimistically looking forward to the transformative impact of the project. The sudden removal not only jeopardizes the district's future growth but also raises serious questions about the criteria and transparency behind such a critical decision.
In the interest of fairness and transparency, we request the World Bank and Somalia's AMP/Bulsho authorities to conduct an independent and transparent review of this decision-making process.
