Growing up in Braunstone Town, I have seen firsthand the dedication and spirit of our local Muslim community. Every day, families—young and old—must travel to neighbouring areas just to attend prayers, participate in cultural events, and receive necessary Islamic education. This is particularly burdensome for our elderly, children, and the more vulnerable members of our community, who face practical and financial difficulties in making these extended journeys.

Braunstone Town deserves its own mosque—a place where our community can easily access spiritual guidance and connect with their faith without enduring long commutes. Having a local mosque would not only serve the spiritual needs of our community but also foster unity, understanding, and inclusivity among all residents within our town.

According to the 2021 Census, the Muslim population in Leicester has increased by nearly 25% in the last decade, indicating a significant need for religious and community facilities. Furthermore, studies have shown that local places of worship can significantly contribute to the social and educational development of communities benefiting not just their congregants, but the community at large through outreach programs, charity works, and cultural understanding.

By establishing a mosque in Braunstone Town, we can provide a sanctuary for reflection and support, empower the local Muslim population with a place to call their own, and invite all members of our community to engage in cultural exchanges that promote tolerance and respect.

We envision this mosque as more than just a place of prayer—it's a community hub where workshops, cultural events, and charity drives can take place, benefiting everyone in Braunstone Town. Moreover, it stands as a commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion that Leicester, and specifically Braunstone Town, prides itself on.

Let's work together to make this vision a reality.
