Representation in MS research matters - Fund Research for All

The Issue

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a Chronic disease that affects nearly 1 million people in the United States. MS is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the protective layer on neurons. This can result in fatigue, mobility issues, vision problems, cognitive difficulty and other symptoms.

One particular issue with clinical studies on MS is the lack of representation from minority groups such as African Americans, Hispanics and Latinos. This affects the treatment options we currently have and leads to inequality in treatment and care for people in those minority groups suffering from MS. We call on Washington’s State Department of Health to increase representation from minority groups and to make that happen by requiring studies to publish different factors such as ethnicity and race in their reports to make sure minority groups aren’t left out of the research. And in that way we can provide equal research and cures to all those affected by this disease.

Additionally, we need more research on MS to work towards finding a cure for this chronic disease affecting millions of people. Additional funding will be a step in the right direction to understand and find a cure for this disease. And for that we are calling for more public health grants to support research initiatives for MS research. In this way we can work towards finding a cure and ending this chronic disease once and for all.

By signing this, you are assisting in urging the State Department of Health to support funding and inclusivity in MS research. With your support we can succeed and work towards finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis to finally end its impact on millions of lives.
