Replace What We Lost: Bring a Capital One Café Back to Glendale or Pasadena.

Replace What We Lost: Bring a Capital One Café Back to Glendale or Pasadena.
The Issue
The Capital One Café in Glendale, California, was more than a coffee shop. Until its closure on April 1, 2026, it served as a sanctuary and vital community hub for me, my family, and so many others in the area. Whether we needed a quiet place to work, a comfortable stop during a neighborhood walk, or simply a familiar face and kind conversation, this café was there.
The staff created a welcoming atmosphere that transformed the space into something much greater than a retail location. It became part of our daily lives. The opportunity to connect with neighbors, regulars, and baristas brought comfort and community in a world that often feels increasingly isolating. A brief conversation or warm greeting may seem small, but these moments matter deeply.
Now that the Glendale location has closed, we are urging Capital One to open a new café in either Glendale or Pasadena so this sense of community is not lost entirely.
Los Angeles is a sprawling, fast-moving city where true “third spaces” are disappearing. Community spaces like the Capital One Café are invaluable. They provide free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, a place to study or work, opportunities for informal meetings, and, most importantly, a welcoming environment where people can gather without pressure to spend large amounts of money.
The closure of the Glendale café is not just the loss of a business. It is the loss of a communal space where relationships were built and maintained. It was a place where students studied, remote workers found focus, families took a break, and neighbors connected. Replacing these interactions with online communication is simply not the same.
Opening a new Capital One Café in Glendale or Pasadena would preserve these essential connections and continue serving the many residents who relied on this space. Pasadena, in particular, would offer a central and accessible location for the many former Glendale patrons who now have nowhere comparable nearby.
Additionally, we hope Capital One will prioritize keeping the employees of the Glendale café connected to this community by transferring or rehiring them at any future location. The dedicated staff helped create a space that went far beyond a typical café experience. Many customers returned not only for the coffee, but because they felt known, welcomed, and cared for. The relationships between employees and community members are part of what made this café so special, and we do not want to lose those connections.
We understand that companies must make decisions based on financial realities. However, we ask Capital One to recognize that some spaces have value beyond profit margins. The Glendale café proved that people are longing for places where they can gather, belong, and feel connected.
To anyone who ever found comfort, friendship, productivity, or belonging within the Glendale Capital One Café, your voice matters. Please sign this petition to urge Capital One to open a new café in Glendale or Pasadena and to keep the employees who made this space so meaningful as part of our community. Our community deserves a place like this again, as it is already dearly missed.
