Replace West Haddon's beloved skatepark
The Issue
For years, the skatepark in West Haddon has been a cornerstone for our community, particularly for our children. My own kids, like so many others, began their early adventures here, learning to ride their balance bikes, scooters, and skateboards. From toddlers to teenagers, this skatepark was a vital space for growth, social interaction, and healthy physical activity. It was a place where older teens and even adults gathered, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community spirit.
Without notice or consultation, the skatepark was removed by the West Haddon Parish Council, leaving a void in the lives of residents young and old. This sudden decision has deprived our children of a safe outdoor space where they could engage in physical activities and socialize outside of school. Removing the skatepark not only impacts their physical health but also their mental well-being, robbing them of a sanctuary where they felt free and happy.
This petition calls on the West Haddon Parish Council to take immediate action to replace the skatepark. The community needs a safe space that promotes positivity and well-being. According to a report by the Health and Wellbeing Foundation, regular outdoor exercise is linked to improved physical health, reduced stress, and better emotional stability in young people.
It is vital for our community and future generations to have access to such facilities. We propose the Parish Council engage in a transparent dialogue with residents, understand our needs, and allocate funds appropriately to rebuild a new skatepark that satisfies modern safety standards and encourages outdoor play.
Help us bring back an essential part of West Haddon's community life. Let’s ensure our children and future generations can have the joy and benefits of a skatepark again. Please sign this petition to urge the West Haddon Parish Council to replace the skatepark that countless families have cherished over the years.
