Replace Gas Installations with Solar Power in Public Housing

The issue

Like most residents in public housing, our income is low however our gas is always over the three hundred and fifty dollar mark. In addition to its high cost, gas, with its open flames, poses a significant risk to the safety of elderly residents and children in our community.

An efficient and sustainable solution lies in solar power. Not only is it safer, it is also cost-effective, saving an estimated average of $101-$187 on energy bills per month for families, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association. More than that, installing solar panels to public housing can potentially turn these buildings into an electricity source, thus generating additional income through selling the excess electricity back to the grid. This switch will not just benefit the residents but also the government, which will be able to allocate the saved resources to other pivotal areas.

It is necessary to prioritise the safety and well-being of the residents in public housing and provide them with an affordable and sustainable source of energy. Please sign our petition to urge the authorities to replace gas facilities with solar power in public housing.
