Replace Fireworks with Drones in Richmond VA

The Issue

Replace traditional explosive fireworks shows with drones, noiseless fireworks, and/or laser light shows, with or without music, to help stop companion animals and wildlife from being terrorized by fireworks, and even implement legislation to ban traditional loud fireworks.

Every year, companion animals, wildlife, and people with sensory disorders and PTSD are terrorized by traditional fireworks while most of us celebrate, and property is damaged. This sadly leads to injured, lost and deceased animals. Dogs and cats are hit and killed by cars as they run across streets trying to escape the explosions, horses injure themselves on fencing, and wildlife blindly run across busy highways. Vehicles and buildings are damaged.

The aim of this petition is to replace traditional explosive fireworks with a suitable alternative such as drones, noiseless fireworks, and/or laser shows so that we can still enjoy our celebrations while not putting animals, people, and property at risk. Music can be played during these celebrations as well. More locations can be considered for shows due to decreased risk.

Drones, noiseless fireworks, and laser shows are now used in celebrations here in the US and overseas. Several towns in Colorado replaced their traditional fireworks display with drones. Towns and cities have enacted laws that fireworks must be noiseless. Venues close to residents, livestock and wildlife in Britain are often permitted to use "Quiet Fireworks" only.  Noiseless fireworks are increasing in popularity. Why can't Richmond do the same?

Please sign this petition to make Richmond’s future Independence Day and other celebrations a lot more pleasant for animals and people.
