“Repeal the Waqf Act – Protect the Religious Rights of Muslims”

“Repeal the Waqf Act – Protect the Religious Rights of Muslims”
The Issue
To:
The Hon’ble President of India
Government of India
and
The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India
Subject: Request for Immediate Repeal of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025
Respected Sir/Madam,
We, the concerned citizens of India and representatives of the Muslim community, write to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. This legislation significantly violates the religious, cultural, and property rights of the Muslim community.
The Act contains certain provisions that:
Allow the inclusion of non-Muslim members in Waqf Boards;
Facilitate the de-notification of Waqf properties, risking the transfer of historically Muslim-owned lands;
Contradict the foundational principles of Islamic Shariah law.
This Act imposes an undemocratic and unilateral administrative pressure on the Muslim community and goes against the secular and democratic values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
Therefore, we demand the following:
1. Immediate repeal of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
2. Drafting of any new Waqf-related legislation only after proper consultation with the Muslim community.
3. Strong constitutional safeguards to protect the rights of religious minorities.
We humbly request your kind consideration of our appeal.
Sincerely,
[Asif sekh]
