Repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in Washington State

Repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in Washington State
The Issue
My personal story starts with an unjust law preventing me from participating in a pastime I enjoy - online gambling. The freedom of individuals in Washington State is being needlessly constrained due to lobbying by Tribal casinos. The state of Washington has outlawed online gambling, not out of concern for its citizens, but to safeguard the profits of these casinos. This infringes upon our rights as consumers to make our own choices and participate in competition.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has weaponized laws for the pursuit of profit, rather than serving the interests of the people. This act eliminates competition from online casinos, propping up the monopoly of Tribal casinos. Moreover, this decision puts consumers at risk of severe penalties, including potential felony charges, for the simple act of seeking entertainment online.
Washington State is currently one of only two states with no forms of regulated online gambling (University of Nevada, Las Vegas Center for Gaming Research). This presents a clear divergence from the national trend towards legalization and regulation. As citizens of this state, it is time we take a stand for our consumer rights and the freedom to choose.
It is imperative for us to advocate for the repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. It's time to stop protecting obsolete monopolies and embrace the modern, digital age. The benefits of a regulated, competitive industry make it a win-win for both consumers and the state government.
Let us come together to oppose the excessive restrictions placed upon us. Let's demand our right to choose where to gamble! Sign this petition to move towards a future where online gambling in Washington State is legalized, regulated, and fair.
