Repeal the OLCC’s requirement for Aspergillus testing in recreational cannabis!

Repeal the OLCC’s requirement for Aspergillus testing in recreational cannabis!
The Issue
Oregon’s recreational cannabis producers are currently dealing with an unnecessary and inevitably devastating change to the testing regulations that now require their crops to be tested for a fungus called Aspergillus- which is commonly found in oxygen-rich environments, among many other places. Failed tests will eventually force garden doors to close, and ultimately the state of Oregon as a whole will suffer the consequences- not just growers and consumers. Hundreds of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue is one of the many things currently at stake. Not to mention the livelihood of hundreds of Oregonian cannabis garden-workers.
If this new testing requirement isn’t repealed soon we’re going to see a rapid decline in the quality and quantity of cannabis available at recreational dispensaries here in Oregon, as well-intentioned cultivators close their doors. All of our state services that benefit from the tax revenue generated by the recreational cannabis industry will feel the effect of this regulatory change, as future funding dries up.
Our cultivators are the backbone of the recreational cannabis industry and without them Oregon won’t just lose tax revenue, but possibly also it’s reputation as one of the most talented cannabis producers in the country. If you care about Oregon’s recreational cannabis industry and the people who make it unique now is the time to act before it’s too late. Please help by signing and sharing this petition to let the OLCC know we won’t stand for this new testing requirement without sufficient evidence supporting the claim that Aspergillus is actually a threat to public safety. Thank you!
