Repeal Schools of Hope to Keep Charter Schools out of Public Education

The Issue

Initially HB 7069, relating to now SB 2510, is a monetization of the school district disguised as an economic upheaval. This will not be stood for. The Schools of Hope program originated in 2017, initially designed to help students in low-performing schools. However, now this has been expanded over the years, moderating the law to allow Hope Operators (Charter Directors) to move into EXISTING public school facilities. This will be known as 'Co-Locations' and will cause unused facilities to be permitted to Charter Schools. This ends up allowing Charter Schools to invade your students' public education, and is now threatening multiple campuses around Florida, including but not limited to, Brookside Middle School and Suncoast Polytechnical High. Under this new law, Hope Operators such as Mater Academy, IDEA Public Schools, and Success Academy are planning to invade your/your child's education and will not be stood for.  Many misunderstandings have arose from this, and these citations may clear up information.

On  a more personal note, Suncoast Polytechnical Highschool will be seized and moved without our input into either office space or into a charter school with all of the students moved into Brookside Middle.  The students of Polytech have expressed their concerns and change must be made.
