Governor Ron DeSantis has just signed House Bill 757, Which allows public postsecondary institutions to voluntarily establish guardian programs, permitting specially trained faculty and staff to carry firearms on campus to deter active assailants. If school shooting were random and impulsive, this would be good, but unfortunately according to the DOE, 93% percent of school shooters planned their attack in advance, according to Issue lab, 37% were current or former students. If they planned it and knew their professor was armed, they would without a doubt either target the professor first to eliminate any threats, or find a way to get their hands on the gun. If the call is coming from inside the house, you do not tell them you are armed or tell them where your weapons are. Florida House Bill 757 is in no way the solution to mass postgraduate school shootings because it does not account for the shooter knowing exactly what they’re walking into. Call your Representatives, call your Senators, get it out that these students did not die for legislators to assume the shooter did not know what they were doing.
