Repair the A519 Cotes Heath properly - Staffs CC.

Repair the A519 Cotes Heath properly - Staffs CC.
The Issue
Petition to Staffordshire County Council to implement its scheme of structural work on the A519 between Nelson Crescent and Mill Meece Railway Bridge within six months of the date of submission of this petition, to ensure the safety and satisfactory condition of the road in the long term.
This stretch of A road repeatedly becomes unsafe for road users.
It is subject to numerous closures to enable repair work to be conducted.
The majority of the work only results in a temporary improvement as it consists of patching category 1 potholes. No long-term solution has been implemented along the whole stretch.
The poor structure of the road accompanied by environmental factors and heavy traffic result in the constant degradation of the surface, leading to further damage, rendering the road unsafe.
Staffordshire County Council have recognised that a scheme of structural work is required to bring the road to a satisfactory standard and to ensure the ongoing safety of road users in the long term.
Residents and road users are extremely concerned that Staffordshire County Council is failing in its statutory duty to maintain this life-expired road and is, instead managing its decline. They are fearful that a serious accident will happen because of the council not carrying out long term repairs. They are also inconvenienced by repeated closures. They request the council to implement such measures as will ensure the road remains in a safe and satisfactory condition in the long term.
