Repair Denbigh High-schools pool

The Issue

My childhood memories are filled with the joy of swimming at the Denbigh High School pool. Twice a week, I was there with friends learning to swim and creating lasting memories. Unfortunately, my younger siblings are not given that same opportunity today due to the pool's current state of disrepair.

The Denbigh High School swimming pool has been a cornerstone of our community in North Central Luton for years. It has served as a safe space for children and adults alike, to learn how to swim and get in some great exercise fostered a sense of community among residents. However, its current condition is preventing everyone in our community from experiencing these benefits.

Currently in north central Luton a, what once had three accessible swimming pools now has zero, leaving our area in a deficit. According to Swim England's 2017 report on "The Health and Well-being Benefits of Swimming", access to local swimming facilities significantly contributes towards improving physical health and mental well-being among youth. The closure or neglect of such facilities can have detrimental effects on their development.

We urge the relevant authorities in Luton Council and any other relevant body to take immediate action towards repairing our beloved swimming pool. This is not just about restoring a facility; it's about knowing that we can trust the local council, and people around us in charge, to hear us and give us our rights to opportunities that we want and need.

Please sign this petition if you believe in giving us and everyone around us equal opportunities for growth, learning, and enjoyment through access to local recreational facilities like the Denbigh High School swimming pool.
