As of May 27th, 2025, over 50,000 Gazans have been killed by Israel in an ongoing, overwhelmingly violent campaign (1). Aide vehicles with ample supplies to support starving civilians wait on the border, blocked by Israel. Starvation is one of many tools of genocide inflicted by Israel on the people of Gaza; Israel has been condemned for the use of this tactic since November 2024 (2). However, in MD-04, our federal House representative, Glenn Ivey, has refused to call Israel's actions genocidal and has stated that he will continue to receive campaign support from AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) (3). 

AIPAC is a far-right organization that aligns itself with dangerous election deniers and spends gobs of money unseating progressive Democrats in primaries (4). In his political career, Rep. Glenn Ivey has received at least $784,515 in traceable financial support from AIPAC (5). In the 2022 primary, he beat Rep. Donna Edwards after AIPAC and their affiliated organization, the United Democracy Project (UDP) spent $6 million on attack ads (6); Rep. Ivey directly thanked AIPAC in a YouTube video and cited their financial support as a major reason for this victory (7). 

We are heading into the 2026 election cycle, and MD-4 voters need a House representative who will stand for what we believe in and not have their silence bought by a far-right, genocidal organization like AIPAC. We want representation that can condemn both attacks on civilians by Hamas while holding Israel accountable for its ongoing war crimes with drastically higher casualty rates and destruction. Furthermore, with Rep. Ivey's track record and likelihood of victory due to his incumbent position, he no longer needs this funding to develop name recognition.

By signing this petition, we call on Rep. Ivey to:

1. Denounce Israel's continued actions in Gaza as genocide;
2. Refuse any further campaign contributions from AIPAC, and; 
3. Lead efforts within the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to change internal party rules and bar AIPAC from interfering in Democratic Party primaries nationwide.
