ISSUE: ARTICLE 1, SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. (Source: Illinois Constitution.)

INTENT: Subject only to the police power needs to be removed because the United States Constitution does not limit the rights of citizens based on police power. The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land and the 2nd ammendment says that our rights shall not be infringed. The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution reads: "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction of the equal protection of the laws."

SOLUTION: Amended section should read: ARTICLE 1, SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS The right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Although this may seem small this a very big deal!
