We need to pass HR 961. This bill gets introduced every year but ends up lost in the stack. It’s been introduced for ten years. 10,000 horses a year are slaughtered. Over the past ten years means 100,000 deaths have come to stallions, foals and mares, and geldings. Every breed from thoroughbreds to miniature donkeys have ended up in a kill pen ready for last shipment to slaughter.  
   These are living, breathing animals including foals and mares sent to kill pens, left half-starved, then on to slaughter to their deaths. 
   Our horses are part of Kentucky’s Pride and American History that served us during our frontier days pulling wagons and plows, delivering the US mail, carrying supplies for our soldiers in our wars, to racing today in our Kentucky Derby. 
   They deserve to have a life. Let’s pass this bill and help our country’s horses. Horses deserve better than this. They deserve a life with love and respect.
