My partner suffered a stroke last April 2024, and ever since his health has been a struggle. I have faced my own health problems too, just like many others throughout West Dunbartonshire. Our community in Alexandria is desperately in need of the Vale of Leven Hospital to provide necessary healthcare services.

The closure of Vale of Leven Hospital has left a significant void in our community's ability to access timely and adequate medical attention. Residents of West Dunbartonshire, like my partner and I, find it increasingly difficult to obtain the healthcare we urgently need. This hospital once offered a lifeline to countless individuals by providing crucial emergency services and specialized care.

Statistics show that communities are healthier and have higher survival rates when they have local, accessible healthcare facilities. With the nearest alternative hospitals miles away in Paisley or  Glasgow, the travel time can be detrimental in emergency situations, potentially risking lives. The need for local healthcare services is critical. Reopening Vale of Leven Hospital would alleviate this burden by bringing essential health services back to the very heart of our community.

Furthermore, Vale of Leven Hospital used to employ numerous healthcare professionals, contributing positively to our local economy and providing jobs for local residents. Reinstating this facility will not only improve access to healthcare but also revitalize economic opportunities and foster community well-being.
