Growing up in New York, Fair Haven Beach State Park was more than just a park; it was a Summer haven where memories were created and many cherished moments happened.  Diving off the diving boards and swimming to the ladder in the channel offered thrills and joy unmatched elsewhere.  It has been a disappointment to see these activities taken away since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The closure of the diving boards in the channel was a temporary measure during the height of the COVID crisis, meant to protect the health and safety of the community.  However, as we move forward and return to our normalized routines with COVID precautions in place, there's no longer a justifiable reason to keep these cherished facilities closed.

Fair Haven Beach State Park is known for its incredible facilities that provide joy and recreation for families, individuals, and tourists.  By reopening the diving boards at the channel for diving, we bring back a significant aspect of this park's charm that enhances its allure and supports active, outdoor lifestyles.

Additionally, reopening these areas can also have economic benefits for local businesses.  Visitors will likely spend more time at the park, engaging benefactors such as local cafes, shops, and service providers in and around the community, bringing much-needed economic relief after the impacts of the pandemic.
