FOUR THINGS TO KNOW:

1: Damage caused to the Burden Lake Dam by Rensselaer County’s use of it, since the 1940’s, and damage caused by the County Highway drainage have never been addressed.

2: The current temporary closure of Burden Lake Road at the Dam is an inconvenience and a hardship to many, especially business operators and service providers in the Averill Park Area.  

3: Funding of a proposed FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant is not guaranteed and there are questions about the feasibility of the Grant, especially if the roadway is not to be reopened.

4: The Town of Sand Lake may be responsible for a large share of costs for repairs to the Dam if the County Highway is not reopened.

THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO:

1: Share the link to this Petition with others, especially those in the Averill Park community and post the picture of this banner to your social media.

2: Contact the Sand Lake Town Supervisor, sclemens@sand-lake.us. Please use friendly persuasion to remind him about the petition and ask him for a Town Board resolution.

3: Reach out to the local County Legislators, representing the Towns of Nassau, Sand Lake & Schodack, ask them for their help to reopen the County Highway:
