As we are less than a month away from the dreadful year of 2020, there is an article by the CBR looking back on the overview of Code Lyoko, which reflects on the story, broadcasting, and the now-defunct production company. Here are a few key points that occur between the fourth season and nowadays.

  • The last episode broadcasted on Cartoon Network was "Cousins Once Removed" in the US before the final seven were put straight to online because of it's failed negotiations with France 3/Canal J.
  • The ending after four seasons to be fair was neither a cliffhanger nor a happy end because all it basically showed was to shut down the supercomputer and moving on from their double lives.
  • The big mistake is that after it was announced that Code Lyoko would get a continuation, Moonscoop nullifies the fifth season of the original series in favor of forming a sequel titled Evolution, which replaces 2D animation with live-action scenes in the real world, while changing the 3D/CGI style on Lyoko.
  • The short-lived Evolution series led to Moonscoop filed for bankruptcy and the assets including Code Lyoko were later acquired by Dargaud Media.
  • Following the shutdown, Netflix initially removed the original Code Lyoko series from the library, before it was brought back this past October. Dargaud Media has restored and uploaded all 95 episodes plus a prequel special on the official YouTube channel in case of non-Netflix subscribers. The company most recently uploaded the 26-episode Evolution series, even though it was only subtitled in English, due to live-action reasons.

Nowadays, we still don't have an official announcement regarding the possibility of continuing the original series for the fifth season, while our community fanbase has waited long enough for the new Code Lyoko content to get the final answers.

If we want to make it happen before the 20th-anniversary mark of the September 3rd debuted date, I am going to need all of you to help the petition get to the next milestone and beyond since it's that time to give and share for the holiday season.

  • Tweet to Your Followers: Include the petition's link and the hashtag(s) #BringCodeLyokoBack or #RenewCodeLyokoOnNetflix. I recommend Twitter as the only accessible Social Media to get more signatures.
  • Promote this Petition: Donate a small portion of your money for more signatures within the Change.org website. Any amount you want to spend will distribute the number of petition views per donation. Choosing to spend $25 (USD) or more will double the number of views.

I am highly encouraging many of you to do your part as soon as you read this update. That is all for now, please have yourselves a safe holiday season, and be sure to stay distant and kind to one another. Thank you very much.
