JUSTICE FOR WILLIAM 'DONNELL' PORTER: SUPPORT THE STREET CO-NAMING CAMPAIGN IN HARLEM, NY

JUSTICE FOR WILLIAM 'DONNELL' PORTER: SUPPORT THE STREET CO-NAMING CAMPAIGN IN HARLEM, NY
The Issue
Dear Change.org Community,
We request your support and signatures in our campaign to street co-name the Corner of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd & W. 132nd Street in Harlem, New York: 'William Donnell Porter Way' and to designate it as a "drug-free zone." The co-naming commemorates Donnell and all children of color who have been underrepresented in the media regarding victimized children and all children abducted and murdered.
12-year-old William 'Donnell' Porter was abducted off the streets of Harlem on his way to school on December 5, 1989; 7 weeks and 5 days later, his body was found by a homeless man on a bike path in the Bronx near City Island.
We believe that the co-naming will serve as a reminder that we must work harder to build a strong, healthy, and safe neighborhood, speak out against the lack of media coverage and accountability when children of color are murdered, abducted, or exploited, and that penalties for the predators should be harsh and swift.
Donnell's story is a heartbreaking one that left a significant impact on Harlem and the country. We cannot allow his memory to fade away. Let's show the world that Donnell's life mattered and that we will continue fighting for justice for him and all children who have suffered similar tragedies.
Please join our campaign by signing the petition to support the street co-naming and designated "drug-free zone" after William 'Donnell' Porter in Harlem, New York. Together, we can make a difference and create a safer and more just world for our children.
I appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Patricia Porter and the Supporters of the William 'Donnell' Porter Campaign
