Our beloved brother, colleague, and friend, Randall Howell tragically lost his life on February 13, 2024 while working on the Roanoke Rapids Spur track in Roanoke Rapids NC. As employees of CSX Engineering Department who worked alongside him and experienced his dedication first-hand, we are proposing that the name of this spur track be changed to “Randall Spur” in honor of our fallen comrade.

Randall was more than just an employee; he was a cherished member of our team who left an indelible mark on all of us. His commitment to safety and excellence set a standard for us all. His loss is not only felt by those who knew him personally but also resonates through the entire rail industry where safety is paramount.

Renaming this spur track would serve as a constant reminder not only of Randall's dedication to his work but also as a testament to the importance we place on safety within our industry. It would ensure that future generations remember his legacy and learn from it.
