We, the undersigned students and members of the West Chester community, stand against the hateful rhetoric perpetuated by former Professor Samuel Schmucker. Schmucker's publications advocating for eugenics and the forced institutionalization of the intellectually disabled (a term referring to a wide variety of oppressed groups at the time) are not welcome on West Chester's Campus. Schmucker's eugenicist beliefs promoted white supremacy and misogyny. Changing the name of the building would be a celebration of the diversity we now embrace as well as the student research that brought this to light. 

We hope that you will sign this petition in support of our better community at West Chester University and embrace this opportunity to improve.

The students need to mobilize support now to show university administration that change is necessary.
