Great news! We're moving slowly but the renaming is headed to the SDUSD School Names Committee and then on to the full school board for final approval! Hopefully this will be on the agenda at the March school board meeting for final approval of the name change.

'Speed bumps' include waiting to get on monthly meeting agendas, holidays and covid, sigh. Naming a property shared by so many groups isn't easy, but seeing all the people coming together to make this happen is amazing. Shout-out to PB Middle for their support!!!

The City is doing their own naming process for City property. We should have an update in a few weeks. Feel free to let D2 know you support Payne Park!

We're holding space for the Paynes as we celebrate Black History Month. I am constantly wondering "What would Fannie do?" as I move through my day, looking for ways to help the community. One thing is for sure: Fannie would want to celebrate! We look forward to the day we can gather to pay tribute to this amazing couple. Slowly, we're getting there.
