In just four days, 788 residents have signed the petition! That’s over 40% of the total signatures we are asking for. Please continue to share this petition with your friends and family members. 

Regina and I spoke with the Union Tribune today, who will be running a story about the petition to rename the park. Our next steps are connecting with the stakeholder needed to make this change happen, such as: administration and staff at Pacific Beach Middle School and the City of San Diego. 

Unfortunately, there are some community members who feel that this is an issue of the past that does not need to be addressed. These are some of the quotes we have seen on social media sites (link below): 

“That was in 1945, not now-geez!”
“I am sick of this renaming bs. Why can’t people leave well enough alone?” 

Let’s make sure that our positive narratives outweighs the negative, and that we come together as a community to make a symbolic change!
