My father, Dr. Ghulam Dastgir, passed away at our home in Gainesville, Florida on October 2nd.  He served his community in graceful silence and helped countless people selflessly over many years.  He loved his family and community dearly and beautifully.  He was an angel on Earth and now heaven is graced with his loving presence.  

My father was instrumental in helping Mr. Ole Ellis and Mayor Tommy McDonald bring Walmart to our small town of Chipley many years ago.  My father then convinced Mr. Brian Applefield of Burger King and Exxon and Mr. Bob Patel of Holiday Inn Express to help him develop our property across from Walmart.  He also helped bring Comfort Inn and Waffle House to our property.  I can tell you from firsthand experience that my father turned down several lucrative offers from investors in order to develop the property himself to create jobs for the local community.  That was his top priority.  He loved Chipley and everyone living there.  It was his vision that brought Popeyes to his office space in Chipley years later.  

My father paved Motel Dr on his land from the Super 8 to Burger King many years ago and then donated it to the city.  My dream would be to name that road after my father.  Judge Peel has been gracious enough to discuss it with Mayor Andrews.  Can you please sign this petition and let the City of Chipley know how much we love my father.  God bless all of you.
