We propose renaming greenhouse gases to "Heat Trapping Gases" (HTG) to provide a clearer and more accurate description of their role in climate change. This change can improve public understanding and help in better communicating the urgency of addressing climate issues.

Benefits of the Change:

Clarity for Children and Students:  The term "Heat Trapping Gases" is straightforward and descriptive, making it easier for children and students to understand the concept and its impact on the environment. No need to explain about benefit of "glass made houses- greenhouses" for plants in cold climate. This can enhance learning outcomes in science education and foster a better understanding of climate change from an early age.
2. Improved Public Communication: A clearer term can help the general public grasp the importance of reducing emissions and taking climate action, as it directly conveys the harmful effect of these gases on our planet.
3. Enhanced Advocacy and Policy Making: By adopting a term that accurately describes the function of these gases, policymakers and environmental advocates can more effectively communicate the need for urgent measures to combat climate change.

We call on environmental organizations, scientific bodies, government agencies, and educational institutions to adopt the term "Heat Trapping Gases" and update their publications and communications accordingly.
