Norm Van Brocklin is the most legendary athlete to come out of Acalanes. Also known as "the Dutchman" he was a three sport star at Acalanes before forgoing his senior to enlist in the military, and serve our country. Once done, he elected to attend the University of Oregon where he was a Heisman candidate. After being drafted into the NFL and setting a current record with 554 passing yards in a game (still held after 70+ years), he got voted into the Hall of Fame. Other local schools have chosen to honor legendary contributors to the athletic programs by naming the football field after them, and we think Acalanes should do the same.
