Rename a stand at St James’ Park the Kevin Keegan Stand

The Issue

Kevin Keegan is Newcastle United. He fired the club out of the old Second Division as a player and gave Tyneside two seasons it has never forgotten. As a manager he built the Entertainers, brought the noise back to St James’ Park, and took us to within a point of the title in 1996. To a whole generation of supporters he is not a former employee. He is King Kev, the man who made us believe again.

This weekend Kevin confirmed publicly that he is living with stage four cancer. Speaking in Newcastle, he said he hoped to come back to St James’ Park because, in his own words, “I want to say goodbye.” The club responded with its support, and we think that support should be made permanent and visible in the ground he gave so much to.

We are asking Newcastle United to rename  a stand the Kevin Keegan Stand.  Not just for what he has done for NUFC but what he has brought to so many clubs, fans and the game itself.

This is a tribute the club can give now, while it still means everything to Kevin, to his family, and to the supporters who have been singing his name for fifty years. We are asking the club not to wait and to show Kevin that he'll never walk alone.

Sign to tell Newcastle United to give King Kev his stand.
