Removing IXL and bring back prodigy

Removing IXL and bring back prodigy
The Issue
This petition was started by Ava, Kora, and Sarah 7th graders attending WBMS. We are PEACEFULLY protesting against the math and science tool, IXL. After much research, we have decided prodigy is much better than IXL. We want to remove IXL because it does not make math fun and also it's really tiring and draining while prodigy teaches you math skills but also is fun and students may find themselves looking forward to playing prodigy as a pose to IXL. prodigy Is way better then IXL and IXl is way harder then prodigy, AND way more funner. like who wants to play IXL? there is not fun games to play on it but on prodigy you can play a game while learning math and English.
IXL Cons:
- IXL is repetitive and can become boring after some time
- Pressure: There is many IXLS to do and it can cause students to feel pressured or stressed.
- IXL is not fun. It lacks engaging features and question after question, you start to feel demotivated and maybe even irritated or angry.
- IXL can be overwhelming as the mastery goes down if you get a question wrong, and some science IXLS have a lot of drag and drops that can be overwhelming to look at.
Prodigy Pros:
- Non stressful, delivers each question every other battle move, which gives a short but helpful brain break between each question, and also adds fun to it. The questions are visually easy to understand and comprehend as well, providing you with drawing tools and even a hint button.
- Prodigy provides features that makes it more fun and engaging, keeping the student hooked for hours on end.
- Prodigy has in-game features that make it so you can be diverse from everyone else, such as being able to customize your character, pick your pets, and gear.
- A quick Google search shows that prodigy is widely favored, as research shows 60% people in America would choose prodigy over IXL. While IXL hangs around 30-40%
Personal Experiences:
"IXL is very frustrating, You get one question right, you only get about 5-10 points. But if you get one wrong you get sent back by like, 20 points." -Kora, A student attending WBMS
