Calling all residents of Scarborough and beyond to sign this petition to put a stop to the 'surf camera' streaming footage of our loved beach to paid subscribers on the the 'ocean eye' paid network. 

We deserve the right to enjoy the beach with our children and loved ones without a camera streaming. 

Scarborough is an eco-village with conservation and community engagement at its core. This camera was put up with no involvement or discussion with the community and goes against the very nature and ethos of the village.

We have many environmental projects underway that risk being undermined by increased traffic of those unaware of the area and the issues at play (for eg, dune rehabilitation, the Save our Birds initiative as well as the constant battle against poachers).

The local surfing community also will not tolerate this, and will fight it to the end. 

This is a nature reserve and the positioning of the camera also provides insight to poachers, criminals and the like. 

We do not want this.
