The Issue

This petition begins at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC, where TPUSA has already caused direct harm, but the goal is to reach students at other colleges who want TPUSA removed from their campuses as well.

This is not an effort to remove conservatives or any political viewpoint from Coastal Carolina Community College, but a response to the specific harm caused by TPUSA, whose members targeted the first person who spoke out against them, resulting in Chris Schulte being secretly recorded, publicly chastised, threatened, harassed, and ultimately fired. He is not the first person TPUSA has tried to silence, but with collective action, he can be the last.

Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has recently established a chapter within Coastal Carolina Community College, and it has sparked significant controversy and concern among the student body and faculty. TPUSA is a national conservative student organization known for its divisive rhetoric and controversial activities. Students, educators, and community members are calling for the removal of this chapter from our college because it poses a threat to the inclusive, diverse, and educational environment we strive to maintain.

TPUSA has been associated with several incidents on campuses across the United States, where its events and speakers have contributed to hostile atmospheres and have marginalized certain student groups. This contradicts the core values of CCCC, which are based on fostering a welcoming environment for all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or political beliefs.

Moreover, TPUSA's presence in CCCC undermines efforts to create an inclusive and respectful community. The organization has a history of promoting ideologies that conflict with the educational mission of fostering critical thinking and respectful dialogue. Not only the students at CCCC, but the community & several other campuses have witnessed firsthand the negative impact that such ideology can have on one’s ability to freely express themselves without fear of discrimination or backlash.
This petition aims to connect those campuses, amplify their experiences, and build a unified response

We propose that the administration of CCCC take immediate action to remove the TPUSA chapter from its campus. Instead, we encourage promoting student organizations that advocate for inclusivity, understanding, and respect among peers. These organizations provide platforms that enhance students' learning experiences and create positive change in society.
There is still a possibility to create like-minded groups on campus and to politic peacefully. If there are going to be political clubs on campus, then everyone, even conservatives, deserves to have clubs they align with. There needs to be a balance. Having TPUSA on campus prevents any real political balance from taking place, as they have not acted like a peaceful organization nor made any effort at CCCC to show otherwise.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a call for a safe and inclusive environment at CCCC, free from the divisive influence of TPUSA. We urge the CCCC administration to prioritize the welfare and educational experience of its students by removing TPUSA from our college. Your signature also strengthens a growing, multi‑campus effort to ensure that students at other schools have the same opportunity to protect their learning environments. Please join us in this endeavor by signing this petition to protect our campus community and its values—and to stand in solidarity with students everywhere who want TPUSA off their campuses.
