Remove toxic chemicals from pet flea medicines

The Issue

My 3-year-old Turkish Angora cat, Snowflake, was killed after using Catego flea medicine. He was healthy and happy. His death was completely avoidable. The vet gave it to me, and I trusted it was safe. One mistake cost my cat's life. It’s not fair! My 11 year old son had to witness his cat die a traumatic death by seizure. Pull these medicines off the shelf!

Every year, thousands of pets are unintentionally put at risk by the very flea medications that are intended to protect them. Many of these products contain harsh chemicals that can cause severe reactions, ranging from skin irritation and vomiting to seizures and, in tragic cases like Snowflake's, death. The Environmental Protection Agency received over 44,000 reports of adverse incidents related to flea and tick treatments for pets between 2008 and 2016. These figures are alarming and represent an urgent need for change.

Pet owners everywhere trust that the products they buy are safe. However, the presence of toxic chemicals like permethrin, fipronil, and imidacloprid in pet flea treatments raises significant concerns. These chemicals, while effective at killing fleas, can also severely harm our beloved pets' health.

We need to demand stricter regulations and transparency from manufacturers. Companies should be required to research and replace harmful chemicals with safer, natural alternatives that do not jeopardize pet health.

Manufacturers and regulatory agencies must work together to ensure that safety testing is rigorous and comprehensive. Effective treatments that do not compromise the health of animals are essential.

Sign this petition to stand with pet lovers everywhere. Our pets deserve safe and healthy lives, free from dangerous chemicals hidden in their medications. Let's push for the removal of toxic substances from pet flea medicines, ensuring that no more animals suffer the fate of Snowflake and so many others. Join us to make a change now.
