“Heart-Shaped Glasses” is a video on YouTube that has over 32 million views: Link here, for reporting purposes.

The video and/or song is also located on TIDAL, Apple Music, and Spotify. These Decision Maker’s have now been added to this petition as of 03/20/22.

According to Evan Rachel Wood,  Marilyn Manson raped Evan by penetration during filming which was not planned and while she was under the influence, and this is shown in the video. In her HBO two-part documentary, she states that she did not consent, she was given drugs, absinthe, and he penetrated her. While she might not be able to charge him as the statute of limitations passed, this video should not be on the internet. She speaks about this specific instance of rape, as well as goes into detail about the fact he would continue to rape what he thought was her unconscious body. The revised UCR definition of rape is: Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim. Attempts or assaults to commit rape are also included; however, statutory rape and incest are excluded.

Survivors and allies need to come together to remove things like this. This should not still be allowed on YouTube, or circulating anywhere for that matter. Evan has re-victimized herself over and over again to create change and a statute of limitations in the state of California, and doesn’t deserve a constant reminder of her sexual assault on the internet.

According to YouTube specifically, if a video violates the Community Guidelines and Policies, they are supposed to remove it. There’s new information that has come to light, and should cause YouTube to remove this video. The video violates the Guidelines and Policies in these aspects:

1. Pornography or depicting sexual acts, genitals, or fetishes for the purpose of sexual gratification on any surface (such as video, text, audio, images)

2. Nudity or partial nudity for the purpose of sexual gratification

3. Non-consensual sex acts or unwanted sexualization

4. Violent, graphic, or humiliating fetish content where the purpose is sexual gratification

When it comes to intimate partner violence (IPV), it does not always happen behind closed doors. There are often other people that witness these events, which creates the bystander effect (the theory that states that individuals are less likely to help a victim while others are present). There were witnesses present for the taping of this video who are stating that Evan was under the influence and couldn’t consent, as well as they were disturbed about her well-being. Research shows that about a third of the time, if a bystander is present victims report higher rates of injury, greater disruption in their routines, as well as poorer mental health (Taylor et Al., 2019).

Evan has been very forthcoming with her claims that Manson horribly abused her and even after so many years away from him, her fear shows what trauma, abuse, isolation, assault, and blackmail can do to you. Until you’ve been in a relationship with a narcissist, it may not make sense, but it is extremely hard to break away because of the isolation, love-bombing, and whatever illusion they have created to make you feel loved.

The hope is for platforms to take down this video/song, and seriously consider taking down his channel (if not now, pending the charges/conviction from the current court cases from his other partners who were assaulted).

“It’s reported that Malon also brought up a clause in YouTube’s terms of service that says Manson’s channel could be taken down on the basis of his actions outside of the platform, but that would require Manson to either confess to, or be legally charged or convicted with a crime that “harms the YouTube community.”

For now, we are calling for this video at the very least to be removed from the platform. We are proving in numbers the harm that it causes the community by signing, supporting, sharing, and reporting the video.
