Remove the disruptive roblox age-verification update

Remove the disruptive roblox age-verification update
The Issue
The recent Roblox update has caused immense frustration among millions of players, including myself. As dedicated members of the Roblox community, many of us feel that the new age-verification and chat restriction changes are not only disruptive, but also unfair—especially to desktop users who lack the required hardware for facial verification.
This update has stripped away core aspects of the Roblox experience, such as chatting with friends, engaging in social games, and participating in roleplay communities. Communication is a foundational part of Roblox, and removing access to chat without providing a reasonable, accessible alternative has left many players isolated within a platform built on collaboration and creativity.
Roblox’s decision effectively requires users to possess specific equipment, such as a functioning camera, and pressures them into sharing personal information in order to regain basic functionality. This raises serious concerns about privacy and accessibility, and disproportionately impacts players who are unable—or unwilling—to comply due to hardware limitations or personal privacy concerns.
Rather than improving safety in a balanced way, this update has alienated a significant portion of the user base. Many players feel unjustly penalized for circumstances beyond their control, and long-standing communities are being disrupted or silenced entirely.
This issue goes beyond inconvenience. It affects trust between Roblox and its community, discourages social interaction, and risks long-term damage to user engagement. There is a growing public conversation around digital privacy and accessibility, and this update has only intensified those concerns among players.
We urge Roblox to reconsider or roll back this update and pursue alternative solutions that protect user safety without sacrificing privacy, accessibility, or communication. A platform as influential as Roblox should strive to protect its users while keeping its community open and inclusive.
Many players—including Quirk_SW, thatoldsteamer, Genius744, rad_train, and realsun81—have already been affected, and they are far from the only ones. This update has cut off a large portion of the community from a fundamental feature of the platform.
Please sign this petition to ensure Roblox listens to its players and adopts a more thoughtful, inclusive approach to maintaining a safe yet open gaming environment.
