Remove the 4 Night Rule from the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme

Remove the 4 Night Rule from the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme
The issue
The Queensland Government provides a travel and accommodation subsidy for patients, carers, and family members who must travel more than 50 kilometers from their local hospital to access healthcare treatment. This includes an accommodation subsidy of $70 per night at many motels. (This can be deducted from the nightly rate at approved accommodation centres) However, the current "4 night rule" excludes patients over 18 yrs of age who do not have a concession card. It also means even if the patient's carer (approved escort) has a concession card if the patient does not have one they both must pay the full rate.
This policy creates unnecessary financial burdens on those already facing health challenges. Removing this rule will ensure fairer access to essential healthcare support for all Queenslanders. Please sign this petition to urge the government to eliminate the 4 night rule and make healthcare more accessible for everyone in need.
