The Issue

For too long, American consumers have been limited in their choices when it comes to purchasing pickup trucks. Unlike buyers in other countries, we don't have the option to buy small diesel pickup trucks. We're left with only large gas or diesel versions, narrowing our choices and impacting our ability to make more environmentally and economically friendly decisions. This is a personal issue for me, and for countless other Americans, who believe in the right to choose a vehicle that suits our needs and preferences without unnecessary restrictions.

In other countries, consumers have access to compact diesel pickups that offer superior fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and better maneuverability, particularly in urban areas. Models that are popular overseas, such as the Ford Ranger T6 and the Toyota Hilux, remain unavailable to us due to regulatory restrictions. We find ourselves envious of the options available to our global neighbors and question why we, as American consumers, are unable to enjoy the same benefits.

The stringent regulations and restrictions in the United States are a significant barrier. The prohibition on the import and sale of small diesel pickups and the mandated use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) contribute to this problem. DEF is intended to reduce pollution, but it's also known to complicate vehicle design and increase costs for consumers.

What can we do to change this? First, we must urge our lawmakers to reconsider these restrictions, specifically the regulations around small diesel pickups and the DEF requirement. By advocating for a review and possible relaxation of these rules, we can open the market and introduce more diverse vehicle options for American consumers. Additionally, we can push for incentives that encourage manufacturers to produce and import these vehicles.

By signing this petition, you're joining a movement to expand consumer choice in the automotive market, protect the environment through more efficient vehicle options, and support the values of freedom and independence that are at the heart of American culture. Let's work together to bring small diesel pickups to the United States and ensure that American consumers have the power to choose the vehicles that best meet their needs.
