The Issue

As concerned parents and citizens, we have noted recent troubling events at our local schools related to Sir Hamed Patel, a key figure within Ofsted. Many of us have children actively engaged in learning, and we believe this situation is gravely affecting their education.

These concerns are rooted in instances where Sir Hamed Patel is reported to be urging non-Muslim students to recite verses from the Quran and wear religious garments. This behavior seems to deviate from the universal and non-partisan educational standards we hold dear in our society. A safe and unbiased educational environment is paramount to developing well-rounded members of society.

With concrete examples coming to light, we believe that a more neutral figure should occupy the role that Sir Hamed Patel currently holds. The UK Education Act of 1996 Section 406 states that "the promotion of partisan political views in the teaching of any subject in the school is forbidden", indicating that educational environments should be unbiased. Furthermore, Ofsted's own guidelines underline the importance of impartiality and mutual respect among different faiths and beliefs.

We strongly find that Sir Hamed Patel's current practices undermine these principles and create an environment of unequal representation of faiths. Educational institutes are platforms meant to foster understanding, curiosity, and respect among diverse students.

By signing, we demand the removal of Sir Hamed Patel from his role within Ofsted. This will protect the secular nature of our educational system and uphold the morals that our children are there to learn, not to comply to one's individual views about religion. Sign this petition today to help ensure an impartial and unbiased future for our schools.
