We, the undersigned, call on Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic leadership to immediately remove Senator John Fetterman from his committee assignments.

Senate committee service is a serious responsibility. It requires judgment, consistency, and a genuine commitment to the values and obligations of the office.

Committee assignments are not symbolic honors. They are powerful positions that help shape legislation, influence oversight, and determine the direction of national policy.

Senators who receive these assignments should be expected to act in good faith with the caucus they represent.

Senator Fetterman has repeatedly aligned himself with dangerous Trump policies and appointments, while also failing to uphold the democratic values he was elected to represent. He has gone against his party on a number of major issues that Democrats have treated as priorities, creating confusion, weakening caucus discipline, and sending the wrong signal to voters who expected him to stand with Democratic leadership on core matters.

This pattern matters. When a senator consistently distances himself from the party’s agenda on issues that are central to its platform, it undermines the credibility of the caucus as a whole. It also raises serious questions about whether that senator should continue to hold committee assignments that give him added influence over the Democratic agenda. A senator cannot repeatedly break with the party on major priority issues, lend support to Trump-aligned politics, and still expect to benefit from the institutional privileges of caucus membership without consequence.

As of now, Senator Fetterman has not changed parties and cannot be primaried or voted out of office until 2028. That makes leadership action especially important. If voters cannot hold him accountable at the ballot box right now, then Democratic Senate leadership must act to protect the integrity of the committee process and the values the party claims to defend.

We believe Senator Fetterman should be stripped of his committee posts and replaced with a senator who will responsibly represent Democratic values, defend the public interest, and take seriously the trust placed in that office.

We urge Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats to not continue rewarding a member who undermines the caucus on major priorities while helping normalize dangerous Trump policies and appointments. Committee assignments should reflect responsibility, loyalty to democratic principles, and respect for the voters who elected him.

Senator Fetterman has fallen short of that standard.
