Remove Salma Mashhour & Marwan Serry from Dagenham & Redbridge FC

The Issue

On 14th April 2025 Dagenham & Redbridge FC announced that Egyptian social media influencers Salma Mashhour and Marwan Serry have joined the board of Dagenham & Redbridge FC as Directors and co-investors of the club.

However, Salma has been found on her Instagram (@mashhoursalma) to be posting posting content that justifies the terrible attack by Hamas on the Israeli people. This link can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CzBltVstIuj/?igsh=MWNkZ2lxNnM4YXYyOQ==

UPDATE: The post has since been deleted on the above link but can be seen clearly in the picture below.

All murder is deplorable, and peace needs to be brought to the Middle East. Yet Hamas are a Proscribed Terrorist Organisation in the UK and any support of their actions has no place in our diverse community.

Barking & Dagenham, the borough home to The Daggers is a borough that celebrates its diversity. Dagenham & Redbridge FC is well known for it’s annual Diversity Day that looks to welcome fans of all backgrounds into the club and football as a whole. The fact that someone who is now a senior figure in the local community club has made comments like this will make a large proportion of that community scared and feeling vulnerable. It also goes against the values Dagenham & Redbridge stands for. We demand that Salma should be removed from her position in the club. Furthermore questions need to be asked of The FA and National League for how someone like this can even be found in their position.

Also Marwan Serry, a popular Egyptian YouTube personality has brought a lot of his internet fans’ attention to the club. However their attitude to existing Daggers fans who are unsure of his presence has bought about well-documented racist, sexist, homophobic and anti-Semitic abuse. This attitude is directly at odds with the culture of Dagenham & Redbridge FC, and English football as a whole. We ask that the owners of Dagenham, Club Underdog led by Matt Rizzetta and Daniel James Hall, remove Serry’s presence from the club and condemn the abuse their fans are being subjected to.

All of this hate speech also goes on top of the fact that the club’s new investors, by their own admission, have no money and picked Dagenham because they wear red. They do not have any connection to the area or the people of Dagenham & Redbridge FC. This is a worrying trend that is happening across lower league football in the UK that must stop.

Please spread the word of this petition and stand with The Daggers. Stand by those in East London and Essex who feel marginalised by the new attitude of this once great community asset.
