As a frequent player of Formula 1 video games since F1 2006, I petition Codemasters and Electronic Arts to support Formula 1’s and Haas F1 Team’ real-life actions and to reiterate an anti-war stance: removal of the Russian flag, adjusting Haas’ livery (removal of Russian sponsorship and colours), adjusting the liveries of any Russian-aligned F2 liveries, and the removal of the Russian track from the F1 2021 official video game.

Although the 2021 Formula 1 season ended last December, the Haas livery in particular is still used frequently in league racing. Multiplayer and league racing is one of the game’s most popular modes and should not be used to display Russian sponsorship/colours.

And while Formula 1 and Haas have taken immediate action, it will take several months until F1 2022 official video game is released, meaning Russian imagery will be reaching players of F1 2021 for months.

Electronic Arts and Codemasters should take immediate action, following the example set by governments across the world in condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
