Lying about your age and adding 2/3 years may seem trivial, but this feeds into the narrative he built and allowed the press to publicise about his length of time in the Royal Navy, to create a sufficient backstory for people to believe he served in The Falklands War in 1982, as by being honest that he was 15 during the conflict destroys his fantasy war record.
