Remove marital status designation for women

Remove marital status designation for women
The Issue
I am father to two daughters and yet even today, small words and old traditions remind us that equality is still incomplete.
Think about something as simple as titles. A man is always “Mr.” — no questions asked. His name stands on its own. A woman must choose between “Miss,” “Mrs.,” or “Ms.” divided before they even speak, as if the world needs to know her marital status before it decides how to address her.
These quiet discriminations, politely accepted and largely unnoticed. It’s a subtle reminder that their identity is tied to someone else’s, rather than their own.
I refuse to accept that for my daughters. They are individuals, not extensions of anyone else. Their names carry the weight of their own achievements, their own identity, and their own dignity.
So why not one title and rid these archaic practises, simple, equal form of respect that doesn’t divide based on gender or marital status. A title that recognises people, not categories. Just as “Mr.” has stood for men without question, let ‘Ms’ be the only title she will ever need.
Real equality begins with fairness in how we see and speak about one another. It’s not just about laws or statistics, it’s about everyday respect. I want my daughters to grow up in a society that greets them as equals, not as exceptions. Because language shapes the world we live in, and by changing the way we speak, we can change the way we think.
Please sign this petition to support gender equality and privacy rights for women worldwide and the removal of the titles and unification. Together, we can make a difference!
