Remove “Louisville, KY Mugshots” from Facebook for Enabling Public Shaming and Harassment

The Issue

We are respectfully requesting that Meta conduct a formal review of the Facebook page “Louisville, KY Mugshots” to ensure it complies with Community Standards related to harassment, bullying, and harmful conduct.

We understand that individuals featured on the page have been arrested or charged. However, being charged is not the same as being convicted in a court of law. Many of the posts involve minor, non-violent, or low-level offenses that are presented in a way that appears intended to embarrass rather than responsibly inform the public.

While public records are legally accessible, the way they are amplified and framed on social media can create lasting harm. The comment sections frequently contain demeaning, hostile, and dehumanizing remarks. These posts can follow individuals indefinitely, affecting employment, housing, and mental health — even before their cases are heard in court.

Page administrators have the ability to limit or disable comments but often allow them to remain open despite repeated harmful commentary.

We are not asking Meta to restrict access to legitimate public information. We are asking that Meta:

Review the page’s moderation practices and content framing.
Enforce policies regarding harassment and bullying.
Require stronger safeguards, particularly when posts involve minor or non-violent charges.
Take appropriate action if violations are found.

Public transparency should not turn into public humiliation. We urge Meta to ensure that its platform is not used in ways that undermine dignity and community well-being.
