Remove @lancscenes Instagram account.
The Issue
Last year, a popular Lancaster University themed confessions account: @lancscenes, apologised for multiple inappropriate confessions that they had received and subsequently uploaded onto their Instagram account. The most notable confession that received the most feedback described a girl's figure using vulgar inappropriate language and culminated saying that they "wanna give you backshots for the view".
The posts drew significant backlash due to how they sexualised students at the University, with many University affiliated accounts such as @cartmelcollege and @bowlandcollege rightly condemning the posts and accounts. Despite the account issuing an apology and blaming some of the admins for the inappropriate confessions being published, the behavior of the account has changed very little.
The confessions the account has uploaded since, have been similar levels of disgusting, with the majority of them diluting down to male students finding students attractive using vulgar language. Some examples include:
- When I commute to uni, I keep myself occupied by passing "Smash or Pass" to whoever [...] gets on the bus/people I see outside. 99% students are indeed a smash.
- I'm actually sick and tired of seeing other girls with guys and giving attention to guys and not me it's a piss take.
- [...] I was about to go on this date with some girl and last min she pulled out with a terrible excuse. This isn't the first time this has happened. They have no remorse it's disgusting.
On 11/02/2026 the account posted this confession:
- [...] the african girls that pull all nighters in the library make me so hard when they speak and I cum when this particular girl laughs wow. [...] I love you my african queens.
As of yet this post has not been removed and the account has continued uploading other confessions.
This post is completely inappropriate for any one to be posting about, especially since it deals with blatant sexual harassment.
Regardless of whether the confession is true or not, posting content like this to an audience of 6,000 followers, the majority of whom are students at the university sends a disgusting message that this kind of behaviour is acceptable.
The account also uses a modified version of the Lancaster University Logo, the only modification being the word "scenes" being included on the logo.
As mentioned this is not the first time that @lancscenes has posted confessions like these and despite apologising less than a year ago there is no evidence to suggest that an apology from the account this time would be any different.
The University has asked accounts to delete posts in the past so it is not unreasonable to demand that the university make the students / admins of the account shut it down, to prevent any further instances of objectification and harassment of students.
The results of this petition will be sent to Lancaster University in a formal statement demanding the removal of the account.
-EDIT-
As of 12/02/2026 16:02, @lancscenes has removed the confession mentioned previously. No apology has been issued by them. The account has added in their bio that they are "unofficial, no affiliation with the uni) They have returned to posting confessions as if nothing has happened and have begun blocking those who call them out.
These are not the actions of remorseful individuals but of those who are trying to save face, attempting to distance themselves from the university to discourage them from getting involved. They are hoping we forget about this and move on.
A reminder that this is not the first time that they have deleted posts in an attempt to pretend they never existed and if we don't make it clear that it's not acceptable, it won't be the last.
-EDIT 2- (sent as via email as an update to signees)
A lot has happened today so I am using this to inform everyone on what is happening regarding LancScenes.
As many of you will have seen, The Lancaster Tab posted an article today entitled: Petition calls for removal of Lancaster student confessions page over ‘misogynistic’ posts. The article is great and I recommend giving it a read!
The article mentions a spokesperson for the University. Here is the segment in full:
A Lancaster University spokesperson said: “While the account is not affiliated with Lancaster University and we cannot remove its content, the posts referenced raise concerns that extend beyond inappropriate commentary.
“Where content suggests behaviour that may constitute sexual harassment, stalking, or other forms of misconduct, we take this extremely seriously. We are reviewing the information available and will take appropriate steps, including involving law enforcement if we identify conduct that may be unlawful.
“Lancaster University is committed to ensuring that our campus remains a safe and respectful environment for all. Racism, misogyny, and any form of harassment are wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“We encourage anyone affected by online content or concerned for their safety to report it and seek support through our established university channels.”
To hopefully summarize correctly (and again, I recommend reading the article to make your own judgments): The University is currently investigating the account to determine whether the account has breached any obvious forms of misconduct. They are unable to officially shut down the account.
While this is true, it's also worth noting that the University Instagram account has messaged accounts in the past to request the deletion of posts. As a result, I am hoping they have at least reached out to LancScenes to request the deletion of some of the posts at the bare minimum.
Following this LancScenes issued a statement on their story. Their response in full was:
"The post in question was sent to our group chat before posting because one of our admins is black and literally a part of ACS.
She saw it as humour "hahaha lads don't just cum in their pants but I'll take the complement"
The confessions obviously did not actually happen, a lad did not just cum in his pants because he saw a girl. it was hyperbole and that's how we took it. Kind of like how us girls say things like "he made my knickers wet" WHICH HAS BEEN POSTED ON THIS ACCOUNT MANY TIMES YET NON OF YOU SOCIAL WARRIORS SAID A THING!!!
However we saw people actually took this literally so we took the post down. The content did not violate any of the meta rules.
Some content might not be of your liking, if that's the case and you don't wish to risk seeing it, we are happy for you to unfollow this account x"
This response is a stark contrast to last years apology which stated "From here on our LancScenes will be managed with the utmost care, serving as a free speaking but safe platform for all Lancaster students". When a student rightly called them out requesting they remove the original post, they responded "why are you getting so mad about that". These are not the words of a caring, safe account.
We will remain committed to getting the account removed, and keep the University informed with as much evidence of wrongdoing as we can. Despite the University's decision following an investigation regarding the account, we will continuously push for the removal of the account.
If you can, continue to share the petition. Report, Unfollow and Block LancScenes on Instagram. They have lost approximately 350 followers since the petition went public and the number is only increasing.
Thank you so much for reading.
